Cast Iron Piston Rings

Cast iron piston rings are used in a wide range of high-temperature and high-speed engine applications. They are low-friction, wear-resistant rings ideal for heave shock applications. While the seal created by the cast iron ring is not as complete as a rubber or urethane ring, it can withstand higher shocks and heavier wear than rubber or urethane.

Cast Iron Piston Rings are necessary for applications with heavy shock conditions. They do not create the complete seal that a rubber or urethane seal would, but can withstand much higher shocks. The groove MUST be at least .001" wider than the piston ring and .015" deeper than the piston ring is thick. Additionally, the radial clearance between the cylinder bore and piston should be less than 1/3 of the radial wall thickness.
