What about Vee Packing?

Sometimes, the job may call for simple V-Packing Seals – a male and female adapter supported by a number of intermediate rings determined by the system pressure. V-Packings are multiple lip (chevron) packing sets designed to seal static, reciprocating and centrifugal applications.

The selection of fabric or homogeneous compounds should be made on the basis of operating pressure (as is true with the number of rings per set), temperature and the media being sealed. Properly installed Vee Packings will generally outperform other lip-type seals.  They are always installed in sets.

At Rocket Seals, the male (bottom) and female (top) parts are made of nylon or duck/rubber, and both need to be the same material, while the vee (chevron) is duck/rubber, hytrel, leather or PTFE. They can withstand pressure up to 10,000 psi (variable based on the number of vee rings used), temperatures range from -35 to 220-degrees, and speeds of 1.5 ft/sec.
